Todays Walk 12/28/2014

Totay I took the Wooden Bridge road –  Concrete bridge road loop.  Gates 24-25 along Whitfield road.  Water was high at the ford near the concrete bridge.  Thankfully someone just ahead had gone across and told me that it was several inches deep in the middle.  At one point Bacon thinks about taking a leap off, into the pond below. By the time I got to this pass, the weather had warmed up quite a bit – must have been in low 60’s.  Quite warm for late December.

159 Minutes of Madness from FlyLo

I’ve been waiting a long time for a DJ mix to really thrill in the way that the classic Coldcut Journeys by DJ mix – 70 minutes of madness did.  That JDJ mix stood out back in late 1997 among the  early craze for DJ mix CD’s in the years before Pandora and Soundcloud. This FlyLo mix sits easier in the current electronic music landscape but still is thankfully somewhat weird, holding the listener back from embracing everything on the first listen – encouraging another listen on the ‘phones.

It also took me several years to find this newcomer, Flying Lotus essential mix from the close of 2008, and now I’m annoyed that I missed him at Moogfest last year.

Ableton follow actions are time based, not position based.

Did you know that ableton Live’s follow actions are time based rather than being “position” based like most of the other values in the clip view.

This means that, if you have a long clip, and then setup a follow action at say bar 128, then start playing the clip (from 1.1.1 and then ‘skip forward’) the follow action will NOT trigger at 128.0.0 – because it’s _time_ based – and since you skipped forwards, the follow item will trigger 128 bars after you first hit the “clip start button”.

I found that quite confusing.
